  • Get a FAVN test within the past 12 months at an approved OIE Lab.
  • Make sure your pet’s microchip is scannable.
  • Depending on your destination you may need an annual rabies vaccination.
  • Advance planning is key.
  • Be sure you are working with an accredited veterinarian.
  • Acclimate your pet to his or her travel environment.
  • Have your pet on a parasite preventative.
  • Check on sourcing your pet’s prescription diet in advance (if applicable).
  • Carry multiple copies of records.
  • For the cruising kitty – use sand and baking soda for temporary cat litter.
  • Have access to an IATA proper fitting travel crate.
  • Consider rubber booties for your pet’s paws for deck gripping.
