- Get a FAVN test within the past 12 months at an approved OIE Lab.
- Make sure your pet’s microchip is scannable.
- Depending on your destination you may need an annual rabies vaccination.
- Advance planning is key.
- Be sure you are working with an accredited veterinarian.
- Acclimate your pet to his or her travel environment.
- Have your pet on a parasite preventative.
- Check on sourcing your pet’s prescription diet in advance (if applicable).
- Carry multiple copies of records.
- For the cruising kitty – use sand and baking soda for temporary cat litter.
- Have access to an IATA proper fitting travel crate.
- Consider rubber booties for your pet’s paws for deck gripping.
